Can The Coronavirus Disease Be Transmitted In Hot Or Humid Climates?

In these grim times, the one fact that everyone should be aware of is that COVID-19 can be transmitted in all areas, regardless of the temperature and weather. Hot or cold, corona can survive it all. Hence, it is mandatory that we take appropriate measures to keep ourselves and our dear ones safe.

The only way to protect ourselves from coronavirus is through social distancing and maintaining proper hygiene. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.

Can The Coronavirus Disease Be Transmitted In Hot Or Humid Climates?

There is absolutely no study that states that coronavirus cannot be transmitted in hot and humid weather. In fact, the cold weather cannot kill the virus, either. The only temperature we should be concerned about is our body temperature which is around 37°C. We should take good care in order for our body temperature to NOT rise.

Coronavirus has spread in countries with hot and humid weather as well as in those with cold climates. This is enough proof that the virus can survive different temperatures, weathers, and climates.

Several studies have suggested that the virus spreads rapidly in cool and dry climates. But it is important to understand that this does not mean that it cannot transmit in hot and humid climates.

Can The Coronavirus Disease Be Transmitted In Hot Or Humid Climates?

But why is coronavirus resistant to different climates?

The main reason as to why the virus is so resistant is due to the protective coating around viruses. These envelops protect it from the external environment and helps it to survive in various conditions. It can survive up to 72 hours on surfaces like plastic and steel.

The only practice we can adopt to prevent further spreading of the virus is to follow the guidelines put forward by health experts and medical practitioners. Read on to see what they are:

  • Wash hands regularly: this is because our hands are the most vulnerable to infections around us. Our hands are constantly moving which greatly increases the chances of touching objects (accidentally or not) that are contaminated by people affected by the virus (again, accidentally). You shouldn’t just show your hands under the water. Follow the WHO guidelines and clean every nook and corner of your hands and fingers.
  • Maintain proper hygiene: Take a shower using soap and water to keep yourself clean. The chances of the infection spreading will be greatly reduced if your body is clean. It boosts the immune system and prepares your body better to attack the virus. Always remember, an unhygienic body is more prone to infections.
  • Avoid touching the face: Without our knowing, we often rub our hands on our face. This can be pretty dangerous since your hands are most likely to come in contact with the virus. Hence, avoid touching any part of your face especially nose, eyes, and mouth.
  • Maintain social distancing: studies have shown that coronavirus can spread from one person to another separated by an average of 6 feet, which is why it is extremely important to keep yourself away from other people at this time. Provide support to those in need mentally and not physically.
  • Always wear a mask: When you go out or talk to another person, always wear masks as it greatly prevents the virus from spreading from one person to another. This is because the virus can spread through infected droplets. By wearing a mask, you’re avoiding all chances of inhaling these infected droplets.
  • Work from home: This is something most of us can do. Working from home is an excellent option as you can avoid travel and communicate directly with a large number of people. However, if you cannot work from home, don’t forget to keep all the other guidelines in mind.
  • Avoid crowded places and gatherings: this is obvious as you’re asked to maintain social distancing. But it is important to avoid gatherings to prevent further spreading of the virus.

Also, if you have any of the symptoms of the infection isolate yourself immediately and seek medical help. Prevention is better than cure. But in the case of coronavirus, prevention is mandatory to save yourself and others! Let’s all work together to stop the pandemic. Here’s to good health and happiness.
